If you need to use it in anger the wearer must be conscious and have their wits about them enough to manually activate the lifejacket!

We therefore dont recommend manual gas lifejackets for activities where the wearer could be unconscious if they accidentally fall overboard, perhaps struck by a swinging boom? Or even in shock when they enter the water perhaps thrown from a speeding rib?

Manual jackets are more suited to activities like beach angling, working around water, aviation or other activities where the user may need to leave a confined space prior to inflating the lifejacket, or on boats in a situation where the wearer is unlikely to accidentally fal overboard.

The Crewfit 165N manual comes in 2 versions this, harness version, and the non harness version. The fit and style of the 2 versions is identical the only difference is that the harness version has a reinforced buckle and a “strong point” loop to allow a deck safety line to be attached, primarily used by sailors to allow them to work safely on a foredeck in rougher weather.

The Non Harness version is ideal for recreational powerboaters and inshore sailing where a safety line would not be usually used. The 165N sport automatic lifejacket has a UML automatic firing system which requires the lifejacket to be fully soaked/immersed to set it off. These automatic firing systems are widely used and rarely go off accidentally, assuming the lifejacket is not kept in a locker full of water or similar!
